Ormskirk market Ormskirk Market, Moor Street
This watercolour was completed in 1946, when the artist was 18 years old. It shows a contemporary busy street scene: a sunny summer's day, little traffic, and many fine buildings that have since fallen to the developers' bulldozers. The market is still held twice-weekly, but is no longer as interesting and varied as in the old days.

Ormskirk market Ormskirk Market, Aughton Street
Depicted as it would have looked in about 1920, with details taken from old picture postcards, with many of my own added, including the people. The fine early Victorian King's Arms, centre of picture, was demolished by vandal developers in about 1965.
